Coolangatta sits at the southern tip of the Gold Coast on the Queensland–New South Wales border, sharing a continuous main street with Tweed Heads on the other side. It is a noticeably quieter, more traditional beach town than the coast further north — low-rise, family-oriented, and built around a string of protected beaches at Greenmount, Rainbow Bay and Coolangatta itself, plus the Snapper Rocks point break at Kirra that produces the Superbank. Gold Coast Airport sits within the suburb, which makes this the most practical part of the coast for anyone flying regularly. Marine Parade and Griffith Street carry the retail and dining, and the beachfront walk around the headlands to Rainbow Bay is one of the better coastal walks in the region. Furnished stock is mostly apartments, generally older and lower-rise than the northern end, at correspondingly lower rates. Medium-term tenants include FIFO and airline crew, families, and longer stays wanting a quieter coast.
