Main Beach sits at the northern end of the Gold Coast's high-rise strip, between Surfers Paradise and the Spit, and is the most settled of the coast's central suburbs. Tedder Avenue is its centre — a short, low-rise run of cafes, restaurants and boutiques that functions more like a village main street than a tourist strip. North of it, the Spit runs out toward the Seaway, holding Sea World, the Marina Mirage and Mariner's Cove marinas, and a long undeveloped stretch of beach and dune at its northern end that is among the quietest on the coast. Housing is dominated by apartments, including some of the Gold Coast's older established towers, so furnished stock is plentiful and frequently has ocean or broadwater views. The G:link light rail stops here on the route between Southport and Broadbeach. Medium-term tenants are commonly professionals on longer postings, retirees, and people relocating who want central access without Surfers' volume.
